On December 29th, Chancellor Vittorio Guillaume and Grand Prince William Winters of Aquitaine engaged in a legal battle over the Grand Prince's properties in Newport. The court case resulted in a victory on the side of the government, marking the first successful Eminent Domain trial and one of the first court cases to happen in many years. The next day on December 30th, Emperor Edward I released the New Years Proclaimation, formally disolving the Confderation of Vierländer and reestablishing the colonies as viceregal states. Shortly after this, Grand Prince William Winters announced his abdication.
