On the 10th of November, Leo XIV opened the Holy Doors in St Peter's Basilica, he declare the Jubilee Year of Mercy. He later coronated the former pope Maximilian I as Prince Regent of Rome. Pope Leo XIV resigned from the position of Supreme Pontiff on October 2022 after Rome's annexation. Leo XIV resigned as "Bishop of Rome, Successor of Saint Peter" and shall retain the title of Pontiff Emeritus. On the same day, H.H. Pope Young I succeeds as the 4th Pope of Rome.

Since the succession of Pope Young I, Pope Emeritus Leo XIV moved out of the Papal Palace in Rome and currently resides in The Barclay family House. On the 1st of February, Pope Emeritus became the 1st Chancellor of the Pontifical College of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome.
On the 24th of December 2024, Pope Leo XIV opened the Holy Door in St. Peter's Basillica, starting the year of the Pilgrims of Hope.
Pope Leo XIV is officially recognised by Emperor Edward of Lech and King William of Wilden. The pope appointed Cardinal William Winters as the Archbishop of Aquitaine, Cardinal Joseph Winters as the Archbishop of Malta and Antioch.
